5 out of 5 Star Review:
Stephen King’s You Like It Darker is nothing short of exceptional, proving once again why he is the master of modern horror and storytelling. The collection contains a mix of bone-chilling horror, clever twists, and deeply human moments that captivated me from start to finish.
The sequel to Cujo was a fascinating revisit to one of King’s iconic tales. It’s amazing how King reimagines familiar worlds while adding new depth and dimension. Similarly, The Turbulence Expert stood out as a clever and thrilling read, but I’d caution readers to avoid tackling this story before boarding a plane (as I learned the hard way, lol).
For me, the true standout was The Answer Man, the final story in the collection. Not only was it haunting and beautifully written, but it also carried an emotional weight that brought me to tears. Reading it at night amplified its impact, and learning that King began writing this decades ago and only recently completed it added a bittersweet layer to the experience.
You Like It Darker exemplifies King’s ability to not only scare but also move his readers with relatable emotions and compelling characters. This is a must-read for any fan of Stephen King or short fiction. If you love dark, thought-provoking stories with an emotional core, this collection will not disappoint.
